My Mother Title Graphic

July 11, 2001 is a date I'll never forget. I lost the person who meant more to me than anything else in my life.  My Mother was an exceptional woman in so many ways. Strong, determined, courageous and loving. She raised 6 children by herself - of course the eldest were expected to help. My Mom instilled a strong work ethic and raised all of us to take care of ourselves while she emphasized the need to be a family. My Mom gave more than any other person I know. She was wise and loving but always cautious. When she decided that her children would grow up seeing all of America, she made the decision right then and there that we would move all over the country. Instead of simply visiting places we became part of the places that we lived. She touched the hearts of so many people - just how many people I'll never really know but as my family sorts through the physical things my Mom left behind we constantly find ourselves touched by a letter or note tucked inside of a gift someone gave her along the way. My Mother started a career in a time that most women didn't work. She owned her own business for several years and after that she worked in the hotel industry as the Executive Housekeeper for over 30 years. My Mom's friends were loyal and loving - they stayed with her right through the end. My Mom left this world on her own terms and at the time she decided - surrounded by the people who love her. I don't think I'll ever stop missing her. My Mother choose not to have a memorial service. Her ashes are to be scattered in the North Georgia Mountains. This section is my dedication to her. In time there will be more to this page - the memories that friends have decided to share and the stories that I grew up with. For now these photos will be a start.
